IC2, WBT Winners!

PassPro-tech™ celebrates another victory, this time in a national-level competition!

PassPro-tech™ bested teams from the University of Texas at Austin, Southern Methodist University, Texas Tech University, Baylor University, Iowa State University, the University of Kansas, the University of Louisville, Yale University, Boston College, and Kennesaw State University. UT Dallas teams also took first (MicroTransponder) and third (Ref for the Deaf) places last year, sparking one judge to note, “UTD is the UCLA of Texas.”

With the support of Dr. Joseph Picken and Nancy Hong at the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the PassPro-tech™ team has developed a very professional business plan and live presentation. Robert Robb (Associate Vice President for Technology Commercialization at UT Dallas) has also helped the team develop a rock-solid slide deck. Dr. Gary Cadenhead, the IC^2^ competition director, recognized the continued growth of the entrepreneurship program at UTD when he mentioned the repeat victory during the awards ceremony.

As the winner of the WBT-IC2 University Technology Commercialization Competition, PassPro-tech™ will receive a cash award of $10,000, legal services valued at $10,000, consulting advice from a panel of experts valued at $10,000, and an invitation to the world-renowned Global MOOT CORP Competition at The University of Texas at Austin in May.

Competition Information

The IC² & WBT University Technology Commercialization Competition was held from March 23rd-25th, 2009. The elevator pitch and opening round took place at the Sheraton Hotel near the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The finals were held at the Arlington Conference Center in concert with the WBT showcase and trade show.
